They are frequented by celebrities, politicians, and business moguls from every corner of the globe.

For golfers, an opportunity to play golf in the Coachella Valley is a chance to create the trip of a lifetime. Whether you're planning an annual group golf trip or taking advantage of a one-time occasion, you'll want the inside track on which courses you shouldn't miss. Be sure to put these popular courses on your agenda when preparing for your group golf trip in the Coachella Valley.

PGA West

Dubbed the "Western Home of Golf in America," PGA West  is home to nine iconic golf courses displaying some of the greatest moments in golf history. The championship courses were designed by golf legends Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Arnold Palmer, and Tom Weiskopf. Each golf course features its own unique challenges to engage golfers of all skill levels. Of course, attempting to play all nine courses in a single trip isn't feasible, so which course should you choose?

If you're looking for a test of skill, the Stadium Course delivers. Designed by World Golf Hall of Famer Pete Dye, it is ranked the fourth toughest course in the nation. The arduous course features steep slopes, frequent hazards, deep bunkers, and difficult angles. The Stadium Course is loved and hated by pro golfers for its difficulty.

The Jack Nicklaus Tournament Course is equally well known among PGA golfers. The 18-hole course is 7,204 yards long and features large lakes, steep drop-offs, and deep bunkers. The magnificent desert setting enhances the game as golfers navigate famously demanding shots and new tests around each corner.

Indian Wells Golf Resort

Offering 36 holes across two impressive courses, the Indian Wells Golf Resort is a spectacular property presenting a spacious clubhouse, stunning views of the Santa Rosa Mountains, and beautifully manicured greens. Both courses have been ranked in the "Top 25 Best Municipal Courses in the United States" by Golfweek Magazine. However, the Celebrity Course is the most well-known. Designed by renowned golf course architect Clive Clark, the course is characterized by streams, split-level lakes, and dramatic waterfalls. While some shots are incredibly demanding, the course is designed to be onerous but fair for players of all skill levels.

Silver Rock Resort

Located at the base of the Santa Rosa and Coral mountains, the SilverRock Resort is home to a striking 7,500-yard golf course partly designed by Arnold Palmer. It is a favorite among golf enthusiasts for its tricky yet playable layout with massive native bunkers and stunning water features. The course was the home course of the PGA Tour's American Express golf tournament from 2008 to 2011.

The Firecliff Course at Desert Willow

One of two popular Desert Willow Golf Resort courses, the Firecliff Course is renowned for its formidable layout. Named by Golf Digest as one of the best "Places to Play," the course includes over 100 bunkers and multiple water features. Spanning 7,056 yards, Firecliff is a tournament-tested layout that tests the skills of golfers at all levels.

Along with the prestigious Firecliff Course, the Desert Willow Golf Resort is home to the slightly less complicated Mountain View Course and a beautiful clubhouse. Golfers can enjoy scenic dining at the resort's restaurant and bar, The Terrace Restaurant, after a game or while waiting for a tee time.

Indian Canyons Golf Resort

Tucked in the heart of Palm Springs, the Indian Canyons Golf Resort has been a popular attraction for players since 1961. Once a private club, the resort's courses have been played by Hollywood celebrities, including Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, and Jackie Gleason, and visited by several former U.S. presidents. Thirty-six holes played across two courses provide golfers with a variety of challenges in front of the dramatic backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains.

William F. Bess designed the North Course, which is the longest of the two courses at 6,943 yards. It has six water hazards, including a lake between the 9th and 18th holes that is home to a famous Disney fountain, which shoots water over 100 feet into the air. As it's surrounded on three sides by the San Jacinto Mountains, rounds of golf are virtually wind free.

The South Course was rebuilt by architect Casey O'Callahan and the Ladies Professional Golf Association legend Amy Alcott in 2004. The 6,582-yard course is home to 4 ponds and 850 palm trees, making it both stimulating and scenic. Both courses offer an unforgettable experience in a beautiful and comfortable setting.

Escena Golf Club

Consistently ranked among the most popular destinations in Palm Springs, Escena Golf Club features stunning scenery, exciting golf, and a variety of amenities at the Escena Lounge and Grill. The golf course combines championship golf with breathtaking views of the San Jacinto Mountains and desert skies. The 7,200-yard course provides players with a challenging layout characterized by large driving corridors and uninterrupted sightlines. It provides an exciting game for golfers of any skill level.

The award-winning Escena Grill is almost as big of an attraction as the course itself. Open year round to the public, the restaurant is dog friendly and offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. The patio boasts one of the most remarkable outdoor dining vistas in Palm Springs.
